About the project

BGV GRAPHITE

Decor
  1. The BGV Graphite project is being implemented by LLC Pobuzhzhya’s Development
  2. The project involves the construction of a mining and processing plant at the Balakhivka graphite ore deposit and the construction of a plant for the production of spherical graphite (SPG) for lithium-ion batteries
  3. Recognition of the project as strategic for the EU
  4. Our goal is to become part of the supply chain of the global and European electric battery markets
  5. Green Technology in SPG production

Goals

First stage

The construction of a mining and processing plant for the production of graphite concentrate with an initial capacity of 50,000 tonnes of graphite per year with a baseline quality of C≥95%. It is possible to increase the production capacity of graphite concentrate to 100,000 tonnes per year.

Second stage

The construction of a plant for the production of spherical graphite (SPG) С≥99.95%, which is the basis for the production of anodes for lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 19,000 tonnes per year.

Where are we located?

BALAKHIVKA DEPOSIT

of graphite ores is located 1.5 km from the village of Balakhivka in the Oleksandriiskyi district of the eastern part of the Kirovohrad region

BALAKHIVKA DEPOSIT
  • Roads

    Roads

The region in which the deposit is located is characterized by a highly-developed network of roads. The Oleksandriia — Kryvyi Rih motorway, which is closest to the deposit, is 1.5 km away.

  • Railway and port

    Railway and port

Several railway stations are located within a 10–25 km radius, namely Korolivka (10 km), Oleksandriia (22 km), and Zhovti Vody (25 km). Mykolaiv seaport is 289 km away and Poland is about 1,000 km away.

  • Access to electricity

    Access to electricity

The region boasts extensive energy infrastructure with the ability to connect to larger power facilities if needed.

  • Urban-industrial agglomeration

    Urban-industrial agglomeration

The region of the project adjacent to the Kryvyi Rih urban-industrial agglomeration, where many highly-skilled personnel with extensive experience in the mining industry live. The region boasts a highly-developed network of specialised educational institutions and facilities.

Quality

Quality
  • Dorfner Anzaplan GmbH developed the enrichmenttechnology.
  • Pilot tests on graphite ore enrichment were conducted in a specialised GTK (Finland) laboratory in the second half of 2023.
  • The basic engineering of the ore-processing plant is being developed by Metso.
  • The SPG pilot tests were completed in November 2024 using the technology of the European companies Netzsch and Dorfner Anzaplan GmbH.
  • Green technology tests in SPG production are due to be completed in July 2025 (American Energy Technologies Company, USA).
  • Test work has been conducted with anode material produced at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (Ukraine). The electrochemical properties of the anode material are on par with those of leading global CSPG manufacturers.
